This large, timber framed pub with a distinctive Victorian fa├žade was situated close to the centre of the village. Good food was available throughout the daytime and helped to make it a favourite place for both local people and walkers alike.

The core of the building dates from the mid-17th century, with several subsequent alterations.

Mid-Anglia CAMRA reported (in January 2016) that the pub had been closed for some time, future unknown. It was subsequently converted into an antiques shop.
