This 18th cent. coaching inn appears in various historical listings as being located in Great Saxham. This is because there was a small change to the boundary between Risby and Great Saxham.
A report in the Bury & Norwich Post** on Jul-30 in 1834 when a Mr Cook was the landlord of this pub, then located in Saxham Street states that:
Edward Baker ostler to Mr Cook had a watch, keys and seals stolen, the culprit was apprehended and sentenced to 12mths hard labour.
