A cock-pit existed in this pub at least as late as 1767 and it's said that its remnants can still be seen in the cellar. Legend has it that a tunnel ran from the pub to King Charles's palace and was used by the monarch to travel between the two buildings.
Do you run this pub? If so, we'd appreciate it if you could check we've got everything correct and up-to-date. Please contact Nigel Smith with any corrections.
