Last updated: July 4th 2010

Overview

opened: 1870 circa

closed: 2009 (November)

address: 167 Foxhall Rd, IP3 8LB

grid reference: TM 180 441

A large single bar with an adjoining conservatory overlooking an enclosed garden.

Finally closed its doors for the last time in late November 2010 after sporadic opening and closing over several years. The building is to be demolished and replaced with six houses.

Following a campaign by local Camra members, it's a condition of the planning permission that the unique tiled sign should be preserved and displayed on a wall of the development for as long as it stands.

Originally only a beerhouse, first recorded in 1862; it was granted a full license in 1896. This was the only pub of this name in the entire country.

All information is presented here in good faith and believed to be correct at the time of writing.
The addresses of old pubs (numbers and sometimes even street names) may not always coincide with the building's current address (if it's still standing), as street names sometimes change, as do numbering schemes
