Bury St Edmunds Playhouse Bar

historical era: late 20th century

opened 1960s

closed 1970s (early)

High Baxter St

Overview | Public transport | Map

The Playhouse Bar was to the rear of the former Playhouse Cinema. The entrance to the Playhouse Bar was up an alley way from High Baxter Street. It had only one long bar.from Keith Willingham

The Playhouse Bar stood roughly where Argos is now; the ancient Half Moon inn was behind it, closer to High Baxter Street.

This [pub] was located behind what was LD Faiers' Wine Shop in the late 60 - 70s. There was a walk way between Buttermarket and High Baxter St and pub was midway between the two. It may have been originally a part of the Playhouse Cinema that was in Buttermarket? I worked there as a lad cleaning up on Sundays!!from G Reeve
