The old White Horse is now called Red Herring Cottage.

The house, on the corner of Heath Road, was used by locals who had allotments there. I have also spoken to the current owner of the house who has confirmed this. It was known as The Old White Horse or possibly The White Horse.

My interest came about when a man in the village showed me an old photo of the house (Red Herring Cottage) and said did I know it used to be a pub. At the time I didn't, but I did know about all the other ones in the village. The name was confirmed to me on separate occasions by Mr David Bennett {son of the publican) and Mrs Clare. I am not sure if OLD was in the name as it is a common descriptive word. It may have been The White Horse and being no longer a pub, was described as The 'Old' White Horse.
