My great grandmother's brother was once 'publican's assistant' to his cousin Edward Flowers who ran the Criterion. They lived at 13, Museum Street, which presumably was the address also of the pub? Edward died in 1908 and I believe the pub closed not long after.From Rod Cross

The building dates from the 17th century.

Te closure date was recorded in the Borough Police licensed premises register 1903-1923.

The pub was also listed in Elm Street.

In the 1871 census four lodgers were also listed.
