Population (2011) of Cretingham: 196.
Local licensing authority for Cretingham is Suffolk Coastal.
Cretingham is a pretty village in the upper reaches of Deben valley, recorded in Domesday as "Gretingeham" or "Gretingaham". In 1887 the curate of the parish murdered the vicar by cutting his throat as he laid in bed. At the subsequent trial he was committed to Broadmoor for life.
Probably the village's best-known son is Terry Hunt, editor in chief of the East Anglian Daily Times and Ipswich Star.
The village sign has different mosaic images on each side (see gallery for pictures).
