Quiet village now formed from mainly modern housing and a tower mill. The mill is now used for housing and was also mentioned in Domesday, where the village was variously recorded as "Buressalla", "Bukessalla", "Buckeshala" and "Bukesalla".

Fasbourne Hall dates from before 1332.
