This settlement is absolutely stunning, with an illusion of remoteness. The village green has been left as common pasture land, with the few houses of the village being scattered around the large green triangle; most of them are beautiful. It was recorded in Domesday variously as "Thraudestuna", "Strandestuna" and "Frandestuna".
Historically, Thrandeston was a centre of hemp growing and linen weaving.
The Manor House dates from approximately 1580.
