About Trimley St Mary

Contiguous with Trimley St Martin. The entrance to the Suffolk Wildlife Trust's Trimley Marshes nature reserve is at Searson's farm (beyond the railway station). This area of marshland is an important nesting and feeding area for wetland birds but is under increasing pressure from the westward expansion of Felixstowe docks.

The Trimley Station buildings are currently under threat of demolition by Network Rail, though a local campaign to retain them is under way.

The Trimleys were recorded together in Domesday as "Tremelaia" or "Tremlega" and appear on John Speed's 1610 map as "Trimleis".
