Henley comprises mainly modern housing situated on the convergence of five roads. The village was recorded in Domesday as "Henlea". During the mid-19th century a flax mill was situated beside the River Fynn, having being moved from Ipswich on account of the 'vile smell'. It may be that the residents of Henley could not abide it either as it mysteriously burnt down on two occasions!
