About Falkenham

Falkenham has been a dry parish since its only pub closed in 1970. The village was recorded in Domesday as "Faltenham". Historically, the area's economy was based on the mining of coprolite, which was transported away via the River Deben. A nearby part of the river known as Kings Fleet is where Edward III had his fleet fitted out for his expedition to Flanders in 1338.

Parts of the church may date from Domesday, though it was extensively refurbished in the late 19th century.
