It is the biggest beer festival
currently held in Suffolk... NOTE: The 2012 (30th) Ipswich Beer Festival will be held on Ipswich docks (Orwell quay) close to the new UCS buildings from Thursday 16th opening at 12 (noon) until 7pm on Sunday 19th August: so come and join us for more outdoor festival fun organised by CAMRA in Ipswich. "Last year this is the biggest change for the Ipswich beer festival since we started it in the Corn Exchange way back in 1983", says Nigel Smith a member of the voluntary organising group, Ipswich & East Suffolk CAMRA (Campaign for Real ale). "This year is our 30th festival and we are very excited to be working once again with Ipswich Borough Council & many others on the old dockside and collectively it promises to be another massive event for the town with lots of fun for all of the family with many activities on the quayside plus our beer festival featuring a wide range of beers & cider. " MORE DETAILS WILL BE PUBLISHED SOON FINAL REPORT ON 2011 FESTIVAL: FESTIVAL UPDATE: "Many thanks to everyone who has visited the beer festival this weekend either as a drinker or member of staff. We, as event organisers, have certainly enjoyed the experience as much as many other attendees at the festival. Today (Sunday) will be the final session of this years festival. We are still seeking comments and feedback, so either fill in a feedback form or drop us a line if you can - but we already feel sure that the overwhelming response has been that most people liked the new venue - and so we hope to be working with the Maritime Festival Organisers to review this years event and plan next years extravaganza in due course. Some of the 'rough edges' such as the unfortunate flooding on Thursday eve can hopefully be avoided at any future events. Fortunately it did not seem to affect many people's enjoyment of the event, although we felt particularly sorry for the Belgium beer bar which had to close during that time. If you are a local CAMRA member, please feel free to attend one of our future meetings (see Branch Diary for details) and get more involved if you wish to help influence or even take some responsibility for aspects of next years festival. We always try and welcome new ideas and positive input at our meetings," cheers, Gary Hale (Festival Organiser), Roger Whittell (Branch Chaiman) & Nigel Smith (AO) More about Maritime Ipswich Festival 2011 "This new event will be celebrating all things nautical and will bring together Ipswich's Waterfront Maritime past, present and future along the Ipswich Waterfront, Quayside and Docks. Maritime Ipswich will take place on Ipswich Quayside with free admission to all events being arranged from Stoke Bridge to the lock gates - starting at 10am until 6pm on both Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st August 2011."
